The Dartmouth Club of Detroit was honored on the evening of March 27 by having President Dickey as its principal speaker for the President's Dinner. Accompanying President Dickey were Messrs. Jack Dodd '22 and Cliff Jordan '45. 140 alumni and wives gathered in the River Room at Cobo Hall to hear Mr. Dickey give a most stimulating talk concerning educational problems of the private liberal arts colleges such as Dartmouth.
Mr. Dodd spoke briefly concerning the needs of the College, particularly since Dartmouth alumni apparently have lagged far behind comparable schools such as Yale and Princeton during the past ten years. He added that Dartmouth no longer can make claim to the fact that more of its alumni support the College than any other alumni group in the country. It now appears that Princeton rates this honor.
A cocktail hour preceded dinner at which time Messrs. Dickey, Dodd and Jordan had the opportunity to meet many of the active alumni in this area.
