Looking ahead to next winter, the Dartmouth varsity basketball team will compete in the E.C.A.C. Holiday Festival Tournament, December 27-30, in New York. Other entries include N.C.A.A. champion Cincinnati and the N.I.T. titlist, Providence College. The Big Green will also play Loyola of New Orleans in a January 26 contest in Hanover.
Jim Francis '57, who for four years has played basketball for the Akron Goodyear Wingfoots of the NBL, has signed a pro contract with the San Francisco Saints of the new American Professional Basketball League. During the past winter Jim averaged 24.5 points a game in NBL play and led the Wingfoots to the finals of the AAU tournament. He was also selected for the American All-Star team which toured Russia this spring and which was undefeated against Soviet opposition.
The Dartmouth varsity hockey team has a twenty-game schedule next winter, with home-and-home contests against all Ivy opponents plus games with Boston College, Army, Boston University, Northeastern and Middlebury.
