Forty Dartmouth Poems, written mainly by undergraduates in the classes of Prof. Richard Eberhart ’26, poet in residence, has been issued by Dartmouth Publications under a grant from the Charles Butcher Fund. In his introduction to the 52-page booklet, Mr. Eberhart writes: “I do not influence my students to write in a certain way. I encourage them to open their imaginations; self-discovery is the road to word mastery. And in any case pleasure is central in any estimation of poetry.” The forty poems are the work of twenty different students and “have been selected to present a cross section of the poetic preoccupations, techniques, and accomplishments of present Dartmouth undergraduates.”

A new, abridged edition of The Cadaverof Gideon Wyck by Alexander Laing ’25 has been issued in paperback form by Col- lier Books of New York, a division of the Crowell-Collier Publishing Company.

Warren Pfaff ’5l has done the illustra- tions for the humorous paperback book, Dolls My Mother Never Gave Me by Jack Wohl and Stan Rice (published by JW Books, Inc., New York, distributed by Pocket Books, $1.50). Mr. Pfaff as an un- dergraduate was staff artist for the Dart- mouth Alumni Magazine.
