The Dartmouth Club of Southern California held their annual summer party at the Glen-Aire Country Club in Sherman Oaks on Saturday July 14 and appropriately named the get-together a "Bastille Day Bash.” The motif was, “Informal French,” and Dartmouth ingenuity produced a raft of costumes which were strictly left bank. Dr.Dana Howe ’31 came dressed as a guillotine, Ed Ramsey ’35 wore tri-colored socks and Bob Williams ’26 a chic, Maurice Chevalier- like straw hat.

A late afternoon swimming party was followed by dinner and dancing and cocktails flowed uninterruptedly. The business end of the meeting consisted of election of officers for 1962-1963. Donald Des Combes ’54 was named president; Leon Rothschild ’24, honorary president; Tony Frank ’53, vice- president; Bob Purvis ’49, secretary; CharlesSchneider ’57, treasurer; Perry Weston ’54, assistant secretary and Tom Corcoran ’54, assistant treasurer. Continuing as Member of the Alumni Council will be RichardHeller ’36 and as Chairman of the Scholar- ship Committee, John Lyman ’2B. CharlesRobinson ’3l was elected Chairman of the Enrollment Committee. The Board of Di- rectors will consist of past president, Dick Milliken ’SO, Chairman, Robert Williams ’26, Rudy Pacht ’35, Thomas Cochran ’46, Peter Reich ’53 and Robert Newson ’53. Our retiring president, Dick Milliken, was unfortunately confined in the hospital during the festivities and was unable to attend. The group missed him, his salty anecdotes, but in particular, his bride, Mahlon. Under- stand he is recuperating rapidly and will be back in the swing of things shortly.
