As we open the new academic year, the Dean’s concluding remarks in his recent Animal Report to Tuck Alumni “I hope that every one of you receiving this report will join us in striving to obtain for Tuck the strongest possible body and financial base” provide a timely and particularly appropriate keynote for our continuing endeavors to maximize the interest and assistance of each of you in the attainment of our enrollment and financial objectives.

Faculty members have been busily occupied during the past summer months. In addition to their research and publishing activities, the faculty have found time to participate in a variety of special professional activities.

Spider Martin. T’20 was the recipient of an Alumni Award this June for distinguished achievement and service to his college and community. He was one of five alumni so honored by the College at the annual Alumni Council banquet.

Bill McCombs ’33 has been named special sales representative for the Sherwin-Wil- liams Company in the New England area. •.. The Dyestuff & Chemical Division of General Aniline & Film Corp., New York City, has appointed Dick Gould ’34 as pur- chasing agent.... Formerly manager of the data processing branch. Bill Ferguson T’37 has been promoted to assistant controller of The Carborundum Cos., Niagara Falls.. .. Charlie Hathaway T’39 recently became as- sociated with the Howard E. Nyhart Cos., Indianapolis, employee benefit consultants and actuaries.

Ben Moats T’46 has been appointed as vice president-marketing for the A. C. Gil- bert Cos., New Haven.... Ed Scheu ’46 has been elected president and chief executive officer of the Good Humor Corporation and of Good Humor Mid-Atlantic, New York City, subsidiaries of Thomas J. Lipton, Inc.
