The Dartmouth Club of Western New York held its annual Christmas luncheon at the Saturn Club in Buffalo on Friday, December 28. Seventy-five alumni and undergraduates turned out to play hosts to a group of 35 prospects and their fathers. After welcoming our guests, Club President Steve Cochrane '37 introduced Kevin Sullivan '54, Enrollment Chairman, who summarized the enrollment situation: number of applicants down, but quality up significantly, with many of the top boys from western New York area schools applying for admission with the Class of 1967.
Dean Emeritus Joseph McDonald was the principal speaker bringing us a partly serious, partly humorous, report on the progress of the College and events in Hanover during the last year. An unscheduled, but most welcome bonus was the presence of Bill King '63, captain and star quarterback of Dartmouth's undefeated. Ivy League Championship football team. Bill graciously reviewed briefly some of the high lights of the season and gave us an undergraduate's view of the College. The film "Football Highlights of 1962" was then shown, with Bill offering explanatory comments on many of the outstanding plays of the season. The meeting adjourned at 3:30 but it will be long remembered by alumni and prospects alike in Western New York. ,
