The Dartmouth Club of Houston held its annual dinner Tuesday evening, March 26 on the Starlight Roof of the Sheraton-Lincoln Hotel. Some 21 alumni and their wives assembled to greet Orton Hicks '21, Vice-President of the College, and his lovely wife Lois. Cocktails were served from 6:30 to 7:30 with dinner immediately following.
After dinner Roger Stanwood '39, President, introduced Ort and Lois. Ort made a most thoughtful and inspiring talk which was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we regret that his time with us was all too short.
We were especially delighted to have Mrs. Winnie Safford '03, as a guest of the club. Among those present from out-of-town were Trevor Boyce '26 and his guest from Dayton, Texas; John Hoyt '34 from Humble; Commander Frederick Wallis '43, his wife and mother from Galveston; and Ben Page '42 from Corpus Christi. Also present were Ed Tuffly '43 and wife, whose son is a freshman at the college this year.
Ort and Lois arrived from St. Louis, Mon- day, and were entertained at a small luncheon at the Carriage Club by Blair RaineyJr. '36. That evening they were entertained at a cocktail party in the home of EllaGrace and C.W. Sanders '21, Ort's roommate in college. Tuesday noon Dave Hedges'34, hosted a small luncheon at the Houston Club and that afternoon Ort met with some 14 prospective applicants for next year's freshman class at the home of President Stanwood.
The Dartmouth Club of Houston meets the second Monday of each month at the Coronado Club, sth Floor of the Bank of the Southwest Building and a cordial invitation is extended to any visiting Indians who might be in town.
