THE College has named the Rev. Richard P. Unsworth, Chaplain of Smith College, as the new Dean of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation, succeeding Prof. Fred Berthold Jr. '45, dean since 1957, who will return to full-time teaching. The Dean-elect, who was guest preacher at the Dartmouth College Service in Rollins Chapel on April 21, has also been appointed Professor of Religion. He will take over his new duties in 1964.

Professor Unsworth received his B.A. degree from Princeton in 1948 and his B.D. degree from the Yale Divinity School in 1954. Since 1954 he has been chaplain and a member of the Smith College faculty. During 1961 he led a student group to Nigeria, Togo, Dahomey, and Ghana, and presently he is a member of the advisory committee of Operation Crossroads Africa. He is also a member of the administrative committee of the Student Christian Movement in New England and American member of the executive committee of the Conference of Internationally Minded Schools.

In announcing Professor Unsworth's appointment, President Dickey said, "Professor Unsworth brings an excellent background to the position, and I am confident he will continue in the fine tradition established by Dean Berthold." During the coming academic year the Dean-elect will serve as a consultant, spending some time each month at the College.
