TOP BEQUEST CHAIRMAN
JUNE 1963

Carl F. Woods '04 was honored as the Bequest Chairman of the Year at the annual meeting of class officers last month in Hanover. In the absence of Mr. Woods his classmate, Leon W. Webster (L), received the award from Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, who read the following citation:

Your long and outstanding service to Dartmouth is a matter of well-known record and includes past presidency of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, the Dartmouth Athletic Council, the Dartmouth General Association of Alumni and the Boston Alumni Association, as well as membership on the Dartmouth Development Council. You aided mightily in the entire conception of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation. You are the President as well as the Bequest Chairman for your Class of 1904.

Presented with the Dartmouth Alumni Award in June, 1959, it might seem that Dartmouth recognition of your loyalty and love had reached a zenith and that honors had been fully rendered.

However, in the knowledge that some thirty years ago as President of the Alumni Council, you initiated a study of and subsequent plans for a bequest program at Dartmouth, which eventually led to our present full-fledged program, and in the further knowledge that in these recent years you have taken an active and intimate part in that program, and spearheaded a well-conceived and fully-developed plan for coordinating the widows of a Dartmouth class into the overall activities and spirit of such a class, your fellow members of the Dartmouth Association of Bequest and Estate Planning Porgram have with pleasure and with pride selected you as the Bequest Chairman of the Year.
