As the 167th session of Dartmouth Medical School gets underway, perhaps you might be interested in some statistics. In the entering class, some twenty states are represented, extending from New Hampshire to Washington and Oregon in the West and Texas and Louisiana to the South. While Dartmouth has supplied approximately half of the embryo physicians, 21 other colleges have representation on the first-year roster. Eleven of the group are following the footsteps of their M.D. fathers, while six young ladies will exert some polishing effect in the predominantly male atmosphere. An average MCAT score of 605 presages extra effort on the part of the faculty to keep ahead of the inevitable and interminable questions to be anticipated!

We can report that the dedication of the Rolf C. Syvertsen Memorial Room was carried out successfully on May 30. Those attending the ceremony completely filled all available seats in the room and overflowed into the hallways and onto the lawn. In the audience, in addition to returning alumni and friends, was a group representing Sy's class, and the presence of Margaret Syvertsen (Mrs. Sy), who came down from Nova Scotia, really made the affair. John Milne M'38 was a very able master-of-ceremonies and the talks by Professor Emeritus FredericPomeroy Lord and Father Leslie Hodder (since deceased) painted superb pictures of Sy. On your next trip to Hanover, be sure to visit Sy's room.
