The undersigned has been requested to act as guest columnist for a couple of months to try to catch up with news since last April - so here goes!

Before further effort, if any reader who participated in any way in the retirement luncheon for the writer failed to receive a personal letter of thanks, it was totally unintentional and can only be explained by the large numbers involved. Please be assured of my deep appreciation.

Present plans call for the admission with the 1970 fall entering class of 16 candidates for the M.D. degree, with about forty firstyear students. The curriculum has been arranged so that the doctoral candidates will be able to complete their degree requirements in three years.. The admissions committee is hard at work processing some 750 completed applications.

Incidental Intelligence - Hilly PoindexterM'27 continues to receive honors, this time having been awarded the Columbia University Graduate Faculties Alumni Award for Excellence. - The Rocky Mountain Medical Journal carried an interesting article by JoeBennett M'33 in the August issue. - Sanford Courter M'42 has been reelected president of the Ohio State Heart Association. - Bill Schumacher M'43 continues to make headlines as Director of Maine's Bureau of Mental Health. - Moe Moss M'54, as president of the Dartmouth Club of Bergen County, recently regaled the Dartmouth Club Officers Association with a report of the work of his club on the Jersey City project. - The appointment as Chairman of the Division of Pediatrics of Philadelphia's Albert Einstein Medical Center has been well earned by Al Root M'56. - Moose Townsend M'59 can now be found as Commanding Officer (Medical), U.S.A.F., 63rd Dispensary, Pleiku, Vietnam. - Did you know that Jim McDowell M'59 was married to Pauline Theberge? - And the headline for another M'59er read: Ralph Miller: From Ski Glory to Vital Research!

With the arrival of Michael Allan, the Charlie Eytels M'60 have evened things with three boys and three girls. - Congratulations to John Remmers M'60 who has been appointed a Markle Scholar. - TedHarris M'60, now completing his clinical and research fellowship in arthritis at MGH, is expected to join the Dartmouth forces in July. - Returning home after about 14 years in college, medical school, graduate training and the Navy is Ken Robertson M'61 to an appointment on the Keene (N. H.) Clinic staff. - And we are glad to welcome to Dover, N. H., Sol Rockenmacher M'61 who has joined Bob Wilson M'43 in Pediatrics. - Having completed his military duty in Vietnam, Jim Longcope M'61 has joined the Acton (Mass.) Medical Association. - Georges Peter M'62 can now be found doing Immunology at Boston's Children's Hospital. - Joe Dorsey M'62 hit print again with his story of the Harvard Community Health Plan.- Two more M'62 male offspring: Preston Alexander to Bill andValerie (Leval) Graham; and "J.P." to Anneand Ted Tapper. - Not to be outdone, Sherry and Bruce Feldman M'63 present Kathryn Ellen.

How about the engagement of Phil Boulter M'64 to Susie Chagnon M'66, two of our "Little Friends" who met after DMS? - Now a few wedding bells for M'6s: Carol Savoy to Larry Muroff; Gretchen Gessler to John Schuler; and Linda Hughes to EricWhite. - By the way, did you see the five-column story in the New York Times about the same Eric White M'65 working in the Emergency Room at Roosevelt Hospital? - John McGowan M'65 recently returned to the Communicable Disease Center in Atlanta after investigating an outbreak of encephalitis in Guatemala. - The Pete WrightsM'6s have Matthew Shedd Wright to enter in the Baby Derby. — At the wedding of Gale Whittelsey to Steve Sherman M'66, Steve was supported by former DMS mates, Garth Gregory, Jack Livingston and DeanMosher. - The John Mulvihills M'67 are boasting about Katie Rose. — We have not yet received confirmation of the wedding of Carol Larochelle to Ron Van DewoestineM'68 scheduled for late August.- GeneNattie M'68 took his bride, Candace Smith, on a month-long honeymoon in Alaska. - Leo and Joy (Baynard) Cass, both M'68, have added Robin to the family roster. - And Olivia Hall has become engaged to PeteDelfausse M'68. - Now for the M'69 weddings: Karen George to Jim Norton; Beverly McNutt to Don Lawrie; and Mertina Stevens to Jim Scharback. - Finally, DaveFrechette M'60 was married to Jane Thurston and brought her back to Hanover while he completes his second year.
