THE Dartmouth Club Association, at its annual meeting in Hanover, October 2-3, elected William W. Parmer '42 of Tenafly, N. J., president for 1964-65. Mr. Parmer, assistant to the superintendent of schools in Tenafly, was vice- president this year and until recently was president of the Dartmouth Club of Bergen County.
Other association officers elected were: vice-president, john W. Barto '52 of Concord, N. H., secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Merrimack County; secretary, J. Michael McGean '49 of Hanover, Associate Secretary of the College; assistant secretary, David E. Orr '57 of Hanover, Assistant Secretary of the College; executive committee members, Sumner B. Emerson '17 of Sarasota, Fla., president of the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota; Henry H. Williams Jr. '49 of Pittsfield, Mass., secretary of the Berkshire County Dartmouth Club; and Lawrence H. Schwartz '58 of Plainview, N. Y., president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Long Island.
This year's meeting, presided over by Richard S. Carr Jr. '49 of New Haven, began Friday afternoon with a session at which several College officers discussed new and continuing programs. Mr. McGean spoke of the Alumni College, Dean Charles F. Dey '52 of Project A.B.C., George H. Colton '35 of ways in which the clubs have special value to the Office of Development, Charles E. Breed '51 of club scholarship programs, and Director of Admissions Edward T. Chamberlain '36 of the current admissions situation.
President Dickey addressed the club officers and their wives at the dinner in Alumni Hall that evening. An illustrated account of the canoe trip down the Danube by nine Dartmouth students last summer was given by Richard S. Durrance '65, one of the party.
On Saturday morning the club presidents and secretaries engaged in a paneltype workshop devoted to: (1) officers and organization, (2) programming for success, and (3) public relations for the local club. Panel leaders were Zebulon W. White '36, association representative on the Alumni Council; Richard M. Page '54, president of the Hartford Club; and Gordon K. Wentworth '40, president of the Boston alumni association.
At Saturday night's concluding supper party, Richard Barnard '30 of Boston and Richard M. Page '54 of Hartford were honored as the top club officers of the year (see their class columns for citations).
