A study by the U. S. Department of State to find out where its Foreign Service Officers were educated disclosed that ten colleges and universities, including Dartmouth in seventh place, stood out most prominently as suppliers of diplomatic career officers during a recent five-year period. Slightly more than one-third of the 926 officers appointed during the 1957-1962 period attended these institutions:
