Bill Buchanan receives the Alumni Council Award from College Secretary Mike McGean '49 at the June 9 meeting. A part of his citation follows:

... More than thirty years ago you became a trustee of Lawrence University and twice you have served as president of its Board of Trustees. You subscribed to the basic principle that the university must be faithful to enduring values and responsive to developing needs as it met the new challenges from the student body within and the world without. Under your long-time leadership and guidance Lawrence University has contributed significantly to the quality of life in America.

... Dartmouth has been most fortunate to have you as a member of the Alumni Council for two years before you became an alumni and charter Trustee in which capacities you served with distinction for twelve years. You were a member of the Dartmouth Campus Conference and chairman of the Executive Committee of the Third Century Fund at a very critical time in that campaign.

For these achievements, for your quiet generosity, for your devotion to the College, and in recognition of your loyalty and continuing support, we give you the Dartmouth Alumni Award.
