David J. Mandelbaum '54 (r) received the accolade of Class Treasurer of the Year at the annual gathering of Dartmouth class officers in Hanover on May 2. Following is the citation read by Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, at the awards luncheon:

As might be expected of one who attended Tuck School and is now a partner in a New York auditing firm, you are a good man at carrying out the precepts of sound financial management. You have been treasurer of the Class of 1954 since 1960, and one is impressed not only by the high level of your performance in that office but also by its consistency.

The record of annual class dues payments by the men in your class is truly remarkable. This year, establishing still another high-water mark for you as treasurer, you have collected dues from 81% of 584 living graduates and 38% of 116 non-graduates, for an overall figure of 74% of the class. The 81% compares with 69% for Dartmouth graduates as a whole, and the 74% with 61.5% for all alumni. Alumni Magazine circulation covers 93% of your 700 class members.

Beyond mere figures and statistics, you maintain a complete and current set of financial records, keep in personal touch with your classmates, and leave nothing to be desired in the conscientious and cooperative way you work with the alumni offices in Hanover.

The strength of the Class of 1954 in all Dartmouth alumni activities owes much to the financial bedrock you provide as part of a team of fine class officers. As a prime example of what a competent and hard-working treasurer can mean to his class and to the College, you are richly entitled to the honor of being named the Class Treasurer of the Year.
