Despite cold and snow throughout the midwest, Coach Bob Blackman made it to Milwaukee on January 14, and we had an excellent turnout for dinner and movies of the 1964 football season. Captain Jack McLean '65, had given us a good preview of what to expect at our annual undergraduate luncheon in December. Jack was joined by Fran Wilson '66 and John Bell '65 in describing current college life for the benefit of prospective '69's who attended the luncheon. We were somewhat awed, but impressed, by the seriousness of purpose and the spirit of excellence which seemed to permeate the college these days.
At the January 14 meeting, Coach Blackman met with several outstanding prospective undergraduates before dinner and then spoke to the alumni group on a variety of topics. He said that he was less than satisfied with the 1964 football season but a 6-3 record wasn't too bad except by comparison with the 1962 and 1963 seasons. He brought us up-to-date on new developments on college building, the alumni fund, and the offering of doctorate degrees by the college. Coach Blackman left for Detroit, the next stop in his busy travel schedule, the following morning.
