Members and guests of the Dartmouth-at-Michigan Club attending the annual dinner meeting on February 6 were transported to Hong Kong by Mike Coffield '62 in an entrancing tale of Dartmouth's participation in Chung Chi College of the Chinese University there, well illustrated by colored slides. He together with Frank Kehl '62 had inaugurated the Dartmouth program at Chung Chi over the two-year period from July 1962. Mike extended the Western culture through teaching English language and American and English literature in the classroom and coaching volleyball and baseball in the recreation field. Mike's bride, Heath, made her own contribution in teaching English language, geography, and civics at the nearby Lingnan High School. Other alumni clubs desiring an interesting and informative talk on this new program being undertaken by Dartmouth at the Chinese University at Hong Kong might well communicate with Mike.
Officers elected for the 1965 year were: President, Tom Washing '63; vice president, Peter Ostafin '32; secretary-treasurer, Warren Cook '23. Members of the executive committee, Mike Coffield '62, Dewey Crawford '63, Ted Haskell '43, Dr. Robert Oneal '54, and Dan Weintraub '54. Milo White '55 was reappointed enrollment chairman following his active fall and winter of recruiting and arranging interviews. Applicants for the Class of '69 from the small area covered by our alumni club reached the unprecedented number of ten.
