THE election of six new members of the Dartmouth Alumni Council and reelection of five members now serving was announced last month by Sidney C. Hayward '26, secretary of the Council, to take effect July 1, 1965. All were nominated by alumni clubs in the seven regions represented and were declared elected for two-year terms when unopposed at the closing of nominations on March 30.

Region I (New England States), District 1: Harry B. Gilmore Jr. '34, Manchester, N. H., reelected; District 4: Edward F. Perrin '38, Hartford, Conn., reelected.

Region II (Middle Atlantic States), District 1: William G. Allyn '32, Skaneateles, N. Y., elected for first term, succeeding Robert J. Strasenburgh II '42, Pittsford, N. Y.

Region III (Central States), District 2: David D. Williams '35, Detroit, Mich., reelected.

Region IV (Middlewestern States), District 1: Robert L. Manegold '38, Milwaukee, Wis., elected for a first term, succeeding Robinson Bosworth Jr. '37, Milwaukee; District 2: Robert L. Krieger '41, Minneapolis, Minn., elected for a first term, succeeding Stuart L. MacPhail '40, Minneapolis.

Region V (Southern States), District 1: A. Marvin Braverman '29, Washington, D. C., elected for a first term, succeeding George B. Flather Jr. '41, Washington; District 3: Robert C. Hardy '25, Sarasota, Fla., reelected.

Region VI (Southwestern States), District 2: James W. Lain '42, Houston, Texas, reelected; District 3: Dr. H. Calvin Fisher '32, Denver, Colo., elected for a first term, succeeding Neil F. Roberts '35, Denver.

Region VII (Pacific States), District 3: Edwin L. Ramsey Jr. '35, Los Angeles, Calif., elected for a first term, succeeding Richard J. Hefler '36, Los Angeles.

The new members of the Alumni Council have all been active in Dartmouth alumni affairs, and all are prominent in business or professional fields. Mr. Allyn is president of Welch Allyn, Inc. of Skaneateles, manufacturers of surgical instruments, and a trustee of Wells College. Mr. Manegold is president of the Wehr Corporation, formerly the Wehr Steel Company, and a director of several banks and business firms. Mr. Krieger, former president of the Minneapolis-St. Paul alumni club, is a Million Dollar Club member with the Bankers Life Insurance Co.

Mr. Braverman, an attorney in Washington, D. C., has served on the executive committee of the Democratic National Finance Committee. Dr. Fisher is a partner in the Denver medical office of Harper, Fisher, Condon and Johnson and is past president of the Denver Academy of Surgery. Mr. Ramsey, past president of the Southern California alumni club, is vice president for marketing of the Rexall Drug Co.

APRIL VISITORS: His Excellency, Ryuji Takeuchi, Japanese Ambassador to the United States (shown above with students), visited the College on April 19 for the American premiere of Mishima's play, TheRose and the Pirates. He was guest of honor at a reception and dinner given by the College. Yu Fujiwara (right), the noted Japanese ceramist, is Visiting Artist for the spring term, working with students and others interested in pottery. He is internationally known for his Bizen Ware, a form of ceramics characterized by simple, natural beauty and no artificial glaze.
