Next fall Baker's bells will ring out a new schedule of class hours as a result of a recent vote by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The new sequence, proposed by the Committee on Educational Policy, provides a weekly schedule of greater diversity and flexibility.
No longer will all morning classes meet four times a week for 50 minutes. Under the new schedule the 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. classes will come together three times each week for 65-minute sessions. Courses scheduled between 10:30 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. may run either four times a week in 50-minute periods or twice a week in seminar or laboratory-length sessions of 110 minutes.
The afternoon program for classes remains much the same as the present one, providing a mixture of 50- and 110-minute sessions that meet four times and twice a week respectively. Afternoon classes, however, will end at 5:20 p.m. rather than at 4:50 p.m. as now.
