For seniors, blissfully enjoying the luxury of their waning undergraduate careers, those visions of graduate studies, military duties, and work days ahead were brought into sharp focus by the College's heraldic notice that John Williams Macy, the Chairman of the U.S. Civil Service Commission, would deliver the commencement and baccalaureate address at the traditional ceremonies on June 12.
Mr. Macy, who presides over the government's central personnel agency and is charged with carrying out many of the special programs of government employment, will address members of the graduating class of the College, advanced degree recipients from the College and the Medical School, Thayer School, and Tuck School, and faculty members, parents, and other visitors.
The 1966 commencement speaker was graduated from Wesleyan University in 1938 and most of his working life has been devoted to personnel administration in the federal government, except for three years (1958.-61) when he served as Executive Vice President of his alma mater.
