Sea Island, Ga., greetings from Joe andMarie Barnett and Bill and Lois Towler. But no golf scores!

Early in the year Auburn, N. H., sent out a Town Warrant. Article XI reads: "To see if the Town will vote to authorize the selectmen to appoint Dr. Carl Forsaith astown historian. He is to select his own committees to work on an official town history." Carl's comment: "They did and I am." Last year, as you may recall, he published "Pinkerton Academy - 1812-1964," a book teeming with amusing anecdotes in the history of his alma mater (1909).

Stub Stoughton and his sister Caroline were in Claremont and Hanover early in April. Then in May he flew to Ontario to visit his daughter Nancy and her family who live in Schomberg north of Toronto. And a P.S. gives the word we all like to hear. "I'm feeling 'fat and sassy,' in other words, very well."

And a happy message from Venice, Fla., "A floral 'Happy Birthday basket' to James Sumner Maloney as he marked his 102nd year. The greeting was presented by the Welcome Wagon sponsors, while two Maloney granddaughters, Mrs. A. L. Jenks of McLean, Va., and Mrs. L. D. Johns of Glen Ellyn, Ill., stood by. During the winter months he is always with his son, our classmate J. Loy (Pat) Maloney. Until his retirement Pat was managing editor of the Chicago Tribune. Our congratulations to your father, Pat, and every good wish to you and your family.

And now and then the past catches up with us. Recently the Eastern United States Ski Jump Judges Association at their annual meeting unanimously elected Carl Shumway to life membership in their organization. And the Appalachian Mountain. Club has given him a subscribing life membership in the A.M.C., in recognition of his contribution in the development of the sport of skiing in the early part of the century. Carl's comment, terse as ever, "Doesn't that make you feel old?"

From time to time there is sad news, too. Word has just reached me that early in March Pierce Webster died, while vacationing in Honolulu. Our sympathy goes out to Josephine and their daughters.
