Best Class Treasurer
JUNE 1966

David G. Halloran '53 received a top honor at the annual meeting of the Dartmouth class officers in Hanover last month when he was singled out as the Class Treasurer of the Year. Tribute to his outstanding achievement was expressed in the following citation:

Since it became a dues-paying class eight years ago the Class of 1953 has had a superlatively good record in both Alumni Magazine circulation and percentage of men paying dues each year. On the solid foundation established by your predecessor, Charlie Buchanan, you have maintained that excellence; and this year - your third as class treasurer - you have carried 1953 to a new high level of performance, even though class dues have been increased from $5.00 to $7.00.

Your achievement in collecting dues from 485 men or 70% of the entire class is this year's best performance among all the dues-paying classes having 300 or more living members (1924 through 1960). In Magazine circulation, 1953's coverage of 98% of its entire membership makes it one of only eight classes of sizable membership to reach that level this year. The funds you collect so voluminously are frugally managed and invested, with the result that 1953's financial health is in a conspicuously robust state.

In saluting you, note should be made of your exemplary Dartmouth upbringing at the hands of your father, Paul J. Halloran '19; your brother, Richard C. Halloran '51; and your uncle, Dr. Roy D. Halloran '17.

In a year characterized by lower totals and percentages for many classes, we paraphrase Kipling and say: "If you can keep your circulation and dues-payers while all around you are losing theirs, you are more than a good Dartmouth Man - you are the 1966 Class Treasurer of the Year."
