Through the kindness and generosity of one of our classmates, "Vin Smith, in cooperation with the College, a copy of Ralph Nading Hill's "The College on the Hill" was sent to each graduate of the Class of 1967. To date letters have been received from 29 of the seniors, each one expressing his thanks and appreciation. To make distribution of the book possible was a fine thing for Vin to do, and obviously the members of 1967 have been inspired by the gift. Because my signature as Class Secretary was on the letter accompanying the book, I have received the letters of thanks from the graduates. These letters have been forwarded to Vin. In a few cases where the intended recipient has been away when the book arrived, his father has taken the liberty of writing to express his own thanks in most cordial terms. All in all, it must be most satisfying to Vin to have been a partner with the College in making this highly interesting book available to so many!

Word of the death of Walter Kipp has been received from his son, W. Douglas Kipp '43. Speaking of his father, the younger Kipp said, "I know that Dad was never very active in his class affairs, but his love for Dartmouth was very deep, and he followed her activities with great interest." I am sure that all 17'ers will join me in extending deepest regrets to the whole Kipp family.

On a more cheerful note, Bob Boynton Was one of the lucky ones to attend the Harvard-Dartmouth game. In a brief note Bob reported that he saw the following at the game: the Phil Evans, the Perc Streeters with their son and his wife, the Duke Howes and son, the Spique MacIntyres, Bill Eaton, the Guy Richardsons, Ruth Montgomery and daughter, the Roger Stones, the Forry Emerys and the Bob Boyntons with their son, Bill Boynton '51. Spique Maclntyre reported having seen a few more 17'ers, namely, Phil Evans, Ike Sprague and the Roger Stones.

Now to tell you a little about the fall party without mentioning names, which is now taboo. The weather, though on the cool side, was almost perfect the entire weekend. A majority of the folks arrived on Thursday. Mott Brown, our newly elected chairman of the executive committee, had called a meeting for Friday evening, so, dinner out of the way, the members of the committee met, ready for business. There was some discussion about where next year's meeting should be held and the chairman appointed Bob Boynton and Don Brooks a committee of two to look into the possibility of meeting at the Hanover Inn. (The committee has since found out that we cannot be accommodated at the Inn, so the Woodstock Inn has agreed to take us, providing that the Inn has not been torn down by the time we want to meet.) Then followed a discussion, led by our new Class Agent, Gene Towler, about his plans for the Alumni Fund campaign. The plans were well received. The next day being Saturday we all went over to Hanover to watch Dartmouth whip Holy Cross. We all returned to the Inn in time for dinner. In order to provide entertainment for the wives, Helen Brooks invited all of those wives then at the Inn to her house Friday noon for luncheon. We were particularly sorry not to see Sumner Emerson, Gil Swett, Jack Saladine, Mose Hutchins, Sandy Lynch and George Allison this year. They have been regular attendants in previous years and were sorely missed this year. We all hope that they will be with us next year.

Last Friday Helen and I took off for Woodbridge, Conn., where we spent two nights with Anita and Bob Scott at their lovely new home there. Norm and MaryMcCulloch were there too. The next day we went to New Haven where we attended the Yale game, which you all know by now, was somewhat of a fiasco. Not too many '17'ers were present. Those we saw were Guy and Marjorie Richardson, Ralph andEvelyn Britton, and Gene Towler, a very small number considering that the huge stands were almost filled. Of course, Bob and Norm and Mary attended the game too.
