THE scope of gift opportunities to an educational institution has increased tremendously in recent years, and Dartmouth is no exception. Voluntary support of the College and its programs goes well beyond the Alumni Fund or an occasional bequest. The range of gift opportunities and the sources providing support show clearly in the list of gifts, grants and bequests of $5,000 or more Dartmouth has received in recent weeks.
Bequests
ESTATE OF DWIGHT CONN 1914: $60,000 as a partial distribution to be added to an earlier distribution of $120,000, for unrestricted use.
ESTATE OF ADELAIDE S. HARDY, widow of Ashley Kingsley Hardy 1894: a bequest of $20,492.33 establishing the Ashley Kingsley Hardy 1894 Memorial Fund to endow scholarships.
ESTATE OF ERNEST MARTIN HOPKINS 1901: $4,057.49 as final distribution of a bequest totaling $40,057.49, income to be credited annually to the Alumni Fund so long as any member of the Class of 1901 shall survive. Thereafter the income and the principal of the Fund may be expended for such purposes as the Trustees may determine.
Deferred Gifts
CHARLES CLARK GEARHART 1928: $10,021.50 subject to life income trust agreement, to establish the Charles C. Gearhart Fund for scholarship aid.
PENNINGTON HAILE 1924: $15,356.25 subject to life income trust agreement, to add to the Pennington Haile 1924 Fund for general purposes of the College.
LEWIS H. HANEY 1903: life income trust agreement, to establish the Lewis H. Haney Endowment in Economics to foster teaching and scholarly research in economics.
KENNETH M. HENDERSON 1916: $11,OOO subject to life income trust agreement, to add to the Kenneth M. (1916) and Marie S. Henderson Fund.
MRS. FLORENCE L. KIMBALL, WIDOW 1915: $50,000 subject to annuity, to establish the John C. Kimball 1915 Fund for scholarship aid.
WILLIAM H. MORTON 1932: $17,104.50 subject to life income trust agreement, to establish the Walter Beach Humphrey 1914 Memorial.
LEON I. ROTHSCHILD 1924: $25,000 subject to life income trust agreement, to establish the Leon I. Rothschild 1924 Fund for scholarship aid.
ALUMNUS CLASS OF 1914: $1O,OOO subject to life income agreement, to add to his scholarship fund.
ALUMNUS CLASS OF 1917: $5,000 subject to life income trust agreement. Annual income to the Alumni Fund as long as any member of the Class of 1917 survives. Thereafter income may be utilized as the Trustees may determine.

CARLETON BLUNT 1926: $27,426 to Eleazar Wheelock Founders Fund No. 1.
ALBERT BRADLEY 1915: $5,000 for five-year membership as a Tuck Associate.
JOHN BROWN COOK 1929: $4,100 to the Wallace Cook Memorial (1929) Fund, the income to be used for purchase of books and periodicals for the Math Library; $3,400 for a vehicle for timber management.
LEON C. GREENEBAUM 1927: $12,075 to the Leon C. 1927 and Charles L. Greenebaum 1955 Fund.

Corporations

Esso EDUCATION FOUNDATION: $7,500 to the College to be used as a presidential contingency for worthwhile projects not budgeted.
GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION: $22,250 for scholarship aid to fourteen students in all four classes, and $ 11,200 for an unrstricted grant of $8OO in connection with each scholarship in recognition that the College's costs exceed tuition.
