Alumni Fund Chairman Ralph Lazarus '35 presents the 1966 Harvey P. Hood Trophy to Edward M. Condit Jr. '53 (c) as Trustee Harvey P. Hood '18, originator of the award, looks on. As 1953's Head Class Agent, Condit received the trophy at the Fund dinner in Boston, March 30, in recognition of his outstanding work for a class eleven to twenty-five years out of College and was given this citation:

Brave indeed was the man who stepped into the position you did in 1963 as Head Agent for the Class of 1953. Under the inspiring leadership of your predecessor, Ted Spiegel, 1953 had won three out of five consecutive Green Derbies and had rolled up impressive contributor and dollar totals in each succeeding campaign. Ted was, as they say in show biz, a "tough act to follow." But you weren't interested in following, and during four years as Head Agent, led 1953 to three more Green Derby wins and unprecedented achievements in both dollars and contributors. 1953's attainment of $29,477 in the 1966 Campaign was the highest total of any class younger than 1942. Your careful organization, recruitment of an exceptionally eifective team of regional agents and agents, and your thoughtful follow-through have paid handsome dividends for 1953 and for Dartmouth. Most importantly you have willingly shared your fund techniques and organizational secrets with other Head Agents (although concealing successfully how all those large gifts just happen to flood in about June 301). You also served with great vigor as President of the Class Agents Association during 1965-66. You now have turned the leadership of 1953's Alumni Fund Campaign over to Jack Newton. Must he be thinking — "a tough act to follow"? For the great role you have played during the past four campaigns the Alumni Fund Committee is delighted to salute you and your Class of 1953 by presenting you with the Harvey P. Hood Trophy as the outstanding Head Agent of a Class from eleven to twenty-five years out of College.
