Burton I. Wolfman, who has been associate director of the Office of Analytical Studies at the University of California at Berkeley since 1961, has been appointed Director of Institutional Research and Analysis.

He succeeds Charles A. Dailey, who has accepted a research appointment at Harvard.

A 1951 graduate of the University of California who also received his master's degree in economics there some years later, Mr. Wolfman was associated with the International Harvester Co. as chief steward and director of education and political action for the United Auto Workers union from 1952 to 1957.

He has served on a number of important task forces and planning groups at Berkeley and has been active in community affairs in the area.

Mrs. Wolfman, an adjunct professor in urban education at Dartmouth during the past academic year, has been named Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
