Alumni Fund Lags
JUNE 1969

In late May, the 1969 Dartmouth Alumni Fund campaign had recorded gifts totaling $1,100,000 from 13,000 donors. This was some $100,000 and 1800 donors behind the 1968 campaign on the same date.

In a June 1 appeal to non-contributors Chairman Richard D. Lombard '53 urged alumni "to keep faith with Dartmouth in this difficult period" by supporting the Alumni Fund. In the same letter he declared, "Today's Dartmouth is coping with the same forces for unrest that have disrupted so many of our colleges and universities. Dartmouth has met the problem with a firm but equitable response."

With some 20,000 alumni to be heard from before June 30, Fund officials were emphasizing the great potential ahead. They expressed confidence that the 1969 Fund would finish strongly and, despite the current lag, might still attain the full $2,148,438 goal.
