To mark the return of the Dartmouth Medical School to the M.D. degree, suspended since 1914, the School will hold a convocation October 2 and 3 on the theme, “Inquiry and Scholarship in the Society of the Seventies.” Speakers on the opening day will be President Kemeny; Dean Carleton B. Chapman; William D. Carey of Arthur D. Little, Inc., formerly with the Executive Office of the President, Bureau of the Budget; Dr. Roger O. Egeberg, Assistant Secretary for Health and Scientific Affairs, HEW; Caryl P. Haskins, president of the Carnegie Institution of Washington; John S. Toll, director of the Chancellor’s Panel on University Purposes, State University of New York; and Dr. James B. Wyngaarden, Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Duke University Medical Center.

Since 1914 the Dartmouth Medical School has transferred 1280 graduates of its two-year course to 50 other medical schools in the United States and Canada. The first M.D. degrees under the new program will be con- ferred in June 1973.
