Grant Standbrook, 32, freshman hockey coach for the past three years, has been named Dartmouth's varsity hockey coach. He succeeds Ab Oakes '56, head coach since 1967, whose contract has been terminated by the DCAC.
Director of Athletics Seaver Peters, in announcing the change in the hockey coaching staff, said, "We're fortunate to have a man of Grant's ability so close at hand. His familiarity with Dartmouth's hockey program will be a tremendous advantage."
Standbrook joined the Dartmouth staff in 1966 as assistant hockey coach and took over the freshman squad the following year when Oakes succeeded Jeremiah.
In three seasons, his freshman teams compiled a record of 48-17, including an 18-3 record last winter. Standbrook, a native of Winnipeg, Man., came to Dartmouth from Greenway High in Coleraine, Minn., where he had a three-year hockey record of 53-21-2. He is a 1961 graduate of the University of Minnesota at Duluth where he was co-captain of hockey in 1960-61.
