Dartmouth's 1970 Alumni Fund campaign is expected to end up with approximately $2 million contributed by nearly 21,000 alumni, parents, and friends. By early July the Fund had received $1,930,000 (including estimated endowment income) from 19,700 donors, and Fund officials predicted that the final total would be at or near the $2-million mark.
Last year the Alumni Fund received $2,128,306 from 22,088 donors, so current estimates would put this year down by some 1000 donors and $120,000 to $130,000.
Fund Chairman Richard D. Lombard '53 termed the results "most gratifying." Lombard added, "We have kept our pledge of sustaining the Alumni Fund at the $2-million level despite an economic slump, the decline in the stock market, some campus problems, and some conflict with the Third Century Fund. All who helped by working and giving should take great pride in this achievement so important to the College and to ourselves as alumni."
The complete campaign results will be reported to some 4200 class agents in late July, and the annual report on the 1970 campaign will be distributed to all alumni in the fall.
