It has been a great summer in Hanover. The weather, as elsewhere in New England, has been superb. The College has been busy and full with many different groups and organizations in residence. At the end of Tuck Drive the Murdough Center is shooting out of the ground and into the sky—by the time many of you read this or make your way to Hanover it will have taken shape, at least in the initial stages of construction. We hope you will come to see it and share with us the wonder and excitement of a major new facility for Tuck. On the administrative side, a major new appointment has been announced by Dean Hennessey. Frederick E. Webster, Jr. has been appointed Acting Associate Dean and Director of the MBA Program. Dean Webster will continue to teach some marketing courses but will devote most of his time to administrative responsibilities. Registration is scheduled for September 23 and by the time you read this report, another academic year will be underway.

In later issues we will discuss faculty activities during the summer months but first we want to direct our attention to some of the appointments and changes experienced by Tuck alumni over the summer. On to the news.

Philip J. Troy T'31 is president of the newly formed Mass-Merchandizing Division of Gamble-Skogmo. He was previously executive vice president of one of the merchandizing units of the company and now controls 72 full-line discount department stores. Prior to his association with this firm he was with Allied Stores Corporation in Minneapolis. Philip E. Benton, Jr. T'53 has been elected a vice president of the Ford Marketing Corporation and appointed general manager of the new customer service division. Donald W. Kuhn T'50 is the new product program manager for the Burroughs Corporation line of advanced general products and systems. Don, who had been with Burroughs since graduation from Tuck, will be responsible for planning and coordinating programs involving the growth of general systems in the company's line of electronic data processing systems.

Samuel C. Williams, Jr. T'41 general partner of Brundage, Story and Rose, was elected a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Council Association of America. Mr. Williams has been with his firm since 1946. Anthony M. Frank T'54 was named president of Citizens Federal Savings and Loan Association in Los Angeles. He was previously chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and IN A Properties Inc. but has resigned from these positions.

Ronald H. Lazar T'54 has been appointed vice president—marketing services for the Union Underwear Company in New York. Ron joined Union (Fruit of the Loom) thirteen years ago and previously was sales manager of the firm. Stephen B.Elson T'62 formerly with Chesebrough-Pond's has formed a new company Fischer/Elson and Associates Inc. in New York. This communications/marketing company offers creative services to all types of firms, large and small. Edward F. Glassmeyer T'68 has been named vice president of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc. in New York. He has responsibility for the firm's venture capital partnership, Sprout Capital Group. Ed was formerly with First National City Bank in New York.

John Marchildon T'68 has joined forces with a realtor on Cape Cod and has formed Harrison Associates Inc. in West Yarmouth. As vice president and treasurer, John will have responsibility for the expansion of commercial activities in the firm. He was formerly with the First National Bank of Boston. Frederick T. Brandt T'66 has been named manager of market development for the Polyester Products Section of the Plastics Department at General Electric in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Fred joined GE in 1966 and will now be responsible for marketing programs associated with polyester resins. Richard W. Bankart T'67 has left the general headquarters of Armour and Company, having been promoted to marketing and sales manager for Miss Wisconsin brand cheese products. This move takes him to Portage, Wisconsin and a new life out of the city.

Jean-Pierre Gorgue T'70 has been transferred by General Mills from Minneapolis to Cameroon, Africa to take over an important position in the Shrimping Division of Gorton Company, a subsidiary of General Mills. Quite a geographical change for Jean-Pierre who came to Hanover, N. H. from France before moving to Minneapolis. Having reported last year on the move of Bruce G. Rossiter T'70 from McKinsey in Los Angeles to the Beverly Hills National Bank, let me make one small addition here. Bruce is actually with Fund of the West, a subsidiary of Beverly Hills Bancorp. The Fund operates an investment banking service as well as a consulting service to both large and small companies.

Well, that should do it for this month. There are still notes in the mailbox but no more room in the column so we shall sign off for the moment, with this final reminder: The 1971 Tuck Alumni Directory is off the press and ready for delivery. This new and expanded version of the original Directory is interesting and most helpful. Copies are still availbale—those woh have not ordered the Directory should write to: Alumni Directory, Amos Tuck School, Hanover, New Hampshire 03755—please enclose a check for $5.00 and a mailing address.

Best regards from the hills.
