Two men have been appointed by the Board of Trustees of Dartmouth College to serve as Overseers of the Tuck School. JohnO. Zimmerman T'33, President of General Motors Acceptance Corp., and Donald E.Meads D'42, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the International Basic Economy Corp., joined the Board in October 1969. They joined the following group of distinguished individuals who continue in their first and second appointments: E. Wight Bakke, Professor of Industrial Administration at Yale University; Alexander Calder Jr.D'38, President, Union Camp Corp.; GeorgeT. Conklin Jr. T'37, President, Guardian Life Insurance Co.; John D. Dodd D'22, retired Vice President of the New York Telephone Co.; Stanley H. Feldberg D'46, President, Zayre Corp.; James P. McFarland T'34, President and Chief Executive Officer of General Mills, Inc., and Chairman of the Tuck School Overseers; David T. McLaughlin T'55, President, Champion Packages Co.; John Moxon D'29, President, Carpenter Technology Corp.; Walter Oliphant, Partner-in-Charge, Arthur Andersen & Co.; Leonard S. Silk, Senior Fellow, The Brookings Institution; and Bradford Smith Jr. D'25, Chairman of the Board, Insurance Company of North America.
In another major appointment, Dartmouth College elected William M. Tetrick T39, Chairman of the Board and President of Synergistics, Inc. to the Dartmouth College Alumni Council. This was significant in that it marked the first time a non-Dartmouth man has been elected to this organization. The College recognized both Bill Tetrick and the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration in the creation of the new Councilorship. Bill is also a trustee of Drury College in Springfield, Mo., from which he graduated in 1937.
A sad note concerns the death of HaroldE. Angelo, former Tuck faculty member between 1956 and 1959. Hap was senior vice president and director of the Colorado National Bank of Denver and prior to that, was Dean of Men at the University of Colorado.
George Martinson T's9, has joined the American Telephone & Telegraph Co. in New York City as plant operations supervisor-personnel. Previous to this assignment, he hadbeen a district manager for New England Telephone Co. Patrick S. Robins T'64 has been named executive vice president of the McAuliffe Paper Co. Inc. He was previously employed at International Basic Economy in New York. Robert E. Spencer T'58 has been promoted to vice president at Chemical Bank, New York Trust Company.
Richard B. Dalbeck T'53 has joined the Union Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Portland, Maine, as vice president for corporate and market planning. For the past several years he has been a principal in the management consulting firm of A. T. Kearney Co. in New York. John P. Dougherty T'66, formerly a commercial loan officer with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co., has been named to the same position with the Industrial National Bank of Rhode Island. Warren K. Wentworth T'54 has been admitted as a member of the firm of Haskins & Sells.
W. Andrew Beckstoffer T'66 has been promoted to vice president-planning for United Vintners, Inc. a division of Heublein, Inc. in San Francisco. Andy had been in the Hartford, Conn., office of Heublein prior to this time as manager of acquisition analysis. In the same company, James Heggie IIIT'67 has been advanced to associate brand manager for Club Cocktails and Irish Mist Liqueur (sounds like a fascinating occupation). Henry J. Gerfen T'62 has been promoted to vice president of Warren, Muller, Dolobowsky Advertising Agency, in New York.
Thomas T. Gately T'56 is the new general manager of Stanley Works of Canada, Ltd. Tom has been plant manager of the Stanley Tools Division since 1966, having joined Stanley in 1959. Gerald W. Hayes Jr. T'66 has been named product manager for the Sperry division of General Mills in Minneapolis. The United Fruit Co. has elected Donald R. Meltzer T'55 controller. Don went to United Fruit in 1967 from Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. T. James Adams T'ss, formerly a stockholder-partner of Loomis, Sayles & Co., is the president of a new firm, the Keystone Investment Management Co., Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keystone Custodian Funds, Inc. lim has specialized in the management of institutional accounts and the formulation of investment policy for various classes of institutional investors.
Barry Linsky T'64 has been appointed director of marketing for the Salon Division of Clairol, Inc., having spent the last year as assistant director. Prior to this he was with Lever Brothers Co. Gary Foote T'66 has also moved from Lever Brothers to Clairol in the marketing division. Robert A. Becker T'61 has joined the New England Merchants National Bank as a loan officer in the international department. Bob was previously associated with the First National City Bank of New York and was located in Argentina.
