The March issue of Foreign Service contains "American Diplomacy—the Pelican in the Wilderness." The author is Career Ambassador Ellis O. Briggs '21, who from 1925 to 1962 was accredited to seven countries, on three continents, by appointment of four Presidents, with an eighth mission pending at the time of his retirement.

David Rafael Wang '53 has translated into English a Chinese poem by Mao TseTung entitled "At The Yellow Crane Pavillion," which is printed in the 1970 Fall edition of Contemporary Literature in Translation published by the Department of Creative Writing, University of British Columbia. Mr. Wang in the SenecaReview, December 1970, has produced the English version of a poem by Ouyang Hsiu (1007-1072), "The West Lake: Four Sightings," written to the tune of Tsai Sang Tsu. An original poem in English by Mr. Wang, "The Intercourse," is printed in InvisibleCity, February 1971, a magazine produced by Red Hill Press, Fairfax, Calif.
