A quiet, unpopulated college campus is an unnatural thing, but for the Christmas season each year the tranquil stillness is a welcome and appropriate change from the hurlyburly burly of the College in session. Especially cially at dusk, when the Christmas lights come on, encircling the campus with sparkling color and making one a little more conscious of Hanover's commonality with towns and cities across the land. The summer used to bring out Hanover's essential quality as a New England village; now it takes the Christmas and Easter recesses to do this Christmas and it is good to have this quality confirmed.
The College began its Christmas recess on December 14. Students will return for winter-term registration on January 2 and classes will resume the next morning, to run until the middle of March.
