THE DARTMOUTH DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL has announced two recent gifts to the College totaling 136,254.53.
Enders M. Voorhees '14, of New York City, has established the Margaret McClumpha Voorhees Scholarship Fund through his gift of 126,254.53 in cash and securities. Mr. Voorhees, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the United States Steel Corporation, gave the scholarship fund in memory of his mother.
The Voorhees gift will help to strengthen Dartmouth's scholarship resources. In order to provide more adequately for worthy students of limited means, the Trustees of the College have set an increase of scholarship funds as the College's prime current need.
Mary H. Hutchins, daughter of Horace G. Hutchins 1835, has bequeathed $10,000 to the College. The terms of the bequest specify that the Arthur Edwin Hutchins Fund be established in memory of Miss Hutchins' cousin, and that the income shall be used "without restriction for the benefit of the College Library now known as the Baker Memorial Library."
Arthur Edwin Hutchins 1857 died May 6, 1864, in one of the Battles of the Wilderness in the Civil War.
