The first undefeated season in Dartmouth indoor track history seems most likely as the Indians head to the final dual meet with Brown. A 5-0-1 record includes wins over Colgate, Vermont. Massachusetts, Boston University and Rhode Island, plus an unusual 59-59 tie with Yale (these teams also ran to a tie in 1947).

The reason for success is the avail- ability of some quality performers beyond the top men in each event.

Coach Ken Weinbel, after the win over UMass (which topped Dartmouth last year), said, "They're a better team but we're much better. We have six 50-foot shotputters now plus good distance runners."

These plus some respectable jumpers and middle-distance performers. The Moody brothers, Wayne and Ted, have shared the weight spotlight, with Wayne leading the shot and Ted (who shares the Dartmouth record in that event with his brother) making an effective conversion to the 35-pound weight event.

Eric Potter and Tom Shiland are good mile and two-mile runners who are bearing down on Dartmouth records, and a couple of frosh, Mark McAleenan in the long jump and Jim Robinson in the mile, are making themselves known quickly.

The dual season has been outstanding and a fourth or fifth place effort at the Heptagonal Meet will be absolute icing on Weinbel's cake.

Freshman Mark McAleenan, long jumper, is one of the main reasons why Dartmouth is undefeated in indoor meets.
