Another honor was added to an already bountiful accumulation when Samuel E.Aronowitz '11 was presented with the annual Human Relations Award of the Albany, N. Y., Inter-Fraternal Council at a testimonial dinner in January.

Representatives of civic and religious groups, local and state governments were among the 500 men and women who gathered to pay tribute to the Albany attorney for his significant contributions to better race relations in the community.

A founder of the Albany Inter-Racial Council and the Albany Child Guidance Center; moving force behind the establishment of Better Albany Living, Inc., a group formed to open previously segregated neighborhoods to minority families; longtime supporter of the United Negro College Fund, Mr. Aronowitz has received awards from B'nai B'rith, Brandeis University, the American Legion, the Exchange Club, and the American Jewish Committee and an honorary degree from the College of St. Rose. Dartmouth recognized his distinguished service to his community and the College with an Alumni Award during 1971 Commencement weekend.

Mr. Aronowitz, a graduate of Albany Law School, served in both World Wars. He is a past State Commander of the American Legion and a current or former board member of 18 educational, religious, or social service organizations.
