The 1972 Fred A. Howland Trophy Citation went to John S. Mayer, Head Class Agent for 1920, at Class Officers Weekend this May in Hanover. It said:
The Class of 1920 has had a reputation of finding good Head Agents and then hanging on to them year after year, producing better and better results. Jack Mayer is no exception. His class talked him into serving as Head Agent for 14 years, and now he's in the middle of his 15th. The only difference is that we can now cite him for leading his class to a Group II Green Derby victory with a new class participation record and a total of over $19,000 raised.
The Alumni Fund Committee is delighted to present the Fred A. Howland Award for the outstanding Head Agent of a Class more than 40 years out - to John S. Mayer, Class of 1920.
