Edward J. Finerty Jr., Head Agent for the Class of 1952, was named winner of the Harvey P. Hood Trophy for 1972 at Class Officers meeting in Hanover May 5. The award carried this citation:
Now in his fifth year as Head Agent of 1952, Ed Finerty has led strong campaigns for his class each of these years, but was especially productive last year when he directed 1952 to a second place finish in the Group VI Green Derby competition. The Class raised $42,000 last year, setting a new class record in that respect, and the Class also ranked fourth among all classes in total donors with 441 contributors. Thanks to a fine team of Class Agents and an effectively-conducted campaign, Ed Finerty put 1952 into fourth place among non-reunion classes in dollar increase, while combining a third place finish in percent of dollar increase achieved. For these fine achievements, the Fund Committee is privileged to recognize both Ed Finerty and the Class of 1952 by presenting this Harvey P. Hood Trophy award to Mr. Finerty as the outstanding Head Agent of a class ten to 25 years out.
