After consulting a dedicated astrologer who for many years had wasted his substance in a vain search for the fabled 'Star of the East,' we determined that the following men, whose natal days are celebrated in December, were born under the sign of Sagittarius, the Archer: Donovan, Curtis, Hallet, and McLaughlin; whereas Gardner, Wheelock, and Edson, were born under the sign of Capricornus, the Goat.

We joyously send them season's greetings.

Gail and Delia Gardner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently with a gathering of members of their family at their lovely old home on Mt. Vernon Ave. in Prescott, Ariz., where Gail has lived all his life, and which was followed in the evening, by an anniversary dinner at the Pine Cone Inn.

On September 15, the Gardners had been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Dunning of Phoenix, Ariz., at the celebration of the Dunnings' 64th wedding anniversary. These young folk certainly thrive in the salubrious climate of Arizona.

We hear so many reports nowadays of young people of college age who seem to be looking for some extraordinary religious experience that we may tend to question the sincerity of their search and to dismiss them as what are sometimes called irreverently, "Jesus Freaks." This classification may be wholly unfair to the individual who is sincerely trying to make religion a part of his or her daily life by putting the experience to a very practical use.

Let us take the case of our little granddaughter, now a college sophomore, for example.

Walking back to her dorm after going out on a date, her escort might make the innocuous suggestion that it would be nice to go up to his room for a little while before turning in for the night. Without saying, "No," Anne has the perfect reply for this proposition when she replies, ingenuously,

"I don't think Jesus would like that."

After a few moments of silent amazement the normal thread of conversation is renewed and finally the evening ends safely, pleasantly, and amicably.

Marion (Mrs. Ducky) Drake writes to us from her new address at 14 D Calnan Circle, Essex St., Weymouth, Mass. 02188 after living for so many years in the big house on Sea St., N. Weymouth and during the time when "Ducky" was so active in the town.

"I am getting out more by walking every day. I have found peace of mind and a strong faith and I feel like a new person after each trip. It does feel good to feel right again.

"A while ago I sent a donation which was intended to be credited to the Class of 1914 but the delivery was fouled up and I received an acknowledgement from someone whom I did not know to the effect that I had previously made a donation to Wallace's memory. It really doesn't matter so long as the money went to Dartmouth in one way or another, but although I can't give millions, I hope to make another contribution for the benefit of the Class of 1914."

It was a pleasant surprise to hear from Gordon and Martha Sleeper after all these months. "I am getting ready to close the Dart-Well nurseries (trees, that is) for the winter and to move back to Newport for hibernation," he says.

"Drew is now in his 20th year in the Air Force and has extended for a year of staff duty in Thailand."

Phil Smith writes to tell us of his recent disability in which he says, "I was laid up all of August with an original ailment for which the doctors have no name as yet. I am feeling somewhat better now after spending several weeks in the hospital, although I am still inactive."

Mildred (Mrs. Dick) Pritchard writes to tell us of her appreciation of the Dartmouth AlumniMagazine. "I have always thought that the Class was very generous in sending the Magazine to all of the 1914 widows and look forward to receiving it and thereby keeping in touch with all the Dartmouth doings.

"I was so sorry not to attend the 60th Reunion but have had wonderful reports from many of those who did. I hope I shall be able to be present at the 65th."
