Harriett and I attended the 1919 fall reunion at the time of the football game against University of Massachusetts where three generations were represented and a fourth by proxy. Present for one or more roll calls were Nick and Dorothy Sandoe, Chet and Emily Gale, Spider and Bea Martin, Nock Wallis, John and Hester McCrillis, Kitty and Jane Larmon, Jigger and Victoria Merrill, John Williams, Jock and Edna Murray, Ray and Harriette Hinds, Max and Caroline Huntoon, Harry and Lil Colwell, Harry Colwell 3rd and his wife Olive, Harry Colwell 4th, who is a freshman at Dartmouth, Class of 1978, Sally Colwell who will graduate from the Dartmouth Medical School in 1975, Ken and Marj Huntington and Bill and NancyEads with one granddaughter living in Boston, with her guest. The new Colwell great-granddaughter was not present in person but was well represented by several proud and happy relatives.

Promptly at 4 p.m. on Friday (September 28) most of the men attended a class meeting where there was some discussion about joining other classes of our time at one or more of the football weekends next fall. The concensus seemed to be unanimous that our class as a group would attend one football game in Hanover next fall and would welcome the active participation of friends from classes of our generation. We invite spokesmen for '17, '18 and '2O to make known their wishes to Nichol M. Sandoe, our president. His address is 80 Park Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10016. Nock Wallis gave an illuminating and encouraging report of the results of the 1974 Alumni Fund campaign.

The Friday evening dinner was pleasantly preceded by a reception sponsored by Jigger andVictoria Merrill and John and Hester McCrillis in honor of their 50th wedding anniversaries this year. A fine roast beef sit-down dinner served by three lovely young lady waitresses followed the reception. When the dessert course was reached a delicious birthday cake adorned with 19 lighted cnadles was placed in front of Chet Gale. Possibly with some help from Emily all 19 candles were extinguished in one powerful blow. Chet was quite generous with his cake and all present at the dinner had at least one piece.

Finally, Nick Sandoe presented Ad Winship '42, Director of Development at the College, who talked so eloquently that I forgot to pay for Harriet's and my dinner. Incidentally, that error was corrected next morning when the detectives arrived. I did- not make many notes on Winship's remarks but I recall one statement, which I have since had confirmed, that for the last two years Phillips Exeter Academy has sent more freshmen to Dartmouth than to any other college. When Winship had finished his talk it was well after my normal bed time but since it was a special reunion weekend I stayed up for a few more minutes to review again the pictures Nock Wallis took at our 55th Reunion.

When Harriet and I entered the Coffee Shop for breakfast at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, I was amazed to find it filled with the same persons we saw at dinner the previous night. After breakfast I did a little shopping and visiting before time for lunch at 11:30 in the Drake Room where we were joined by delegates from the Class of 1918 who seemed to enjoy the friendly camaraderie of their younger 1919 friends.

The final score of the game you have known for many weeks. The University of Massachusetts won although Dartmouth had the edge statistically. It rained most of the afternoon and I finally sought the warmth and shelter of the Inn at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

The traditional party at the Larmons was the highlight of the weekend. The refreshments were superb as usual and Kitty and Jane Larmon were superior and thoughtful hostesses. Some of us had dinner together at the Inn. The next morning many early risers had breakfast together in the Coffee Shop before we started on our Homeward journeys. We missed many friends who have attended fall reunions in the past. We hope that they will make it in the fall of 1975 and that we will be there too. Pax Vobiscum
