When is a scoop not a scoop?

When the Alumni Magazine plans an Alumni Album profile on Warner R. Traynham '57, director of Black Studies for the Boston Theological Institute, only to learn just before press time that Father Traynham is also Dean-elect of the Tucker Foundation.

President Kemeny announced early this month that the Reverend Mr. Traynham will assume his new responsibilities July 1.

That Father Traynham brings rare qualifications of commitment and experience to the position will be evident from a perusal of page 32 of this issue.

As dean of the Foundation, established by the Trustees in 1951 as an independent endowment within the College to further the moral and spiritual work and influence of the Dartmouth community, Father Traynham will administer ABC's public school and summer programs, the Dartmouth Learning Center in Jersey City, the Tucker Internships, the Outward Bound program, campus religious activities, and the Tucker Fellowships, which bring prominent men and women involved in public issues to the College for a month or so at a time.

He succeeds Charles F. Dey '52, who resigned last year to become president of Choate and Rosemary Hall. During this academic year the Reverend Paul Rahmeier, the College Chaplain, has been acting dean. He was recently appointed headmaster of the Northfield-Mount Hermon schools.
