The Class Secretary's Book contains a great deal of information, much of which has never been given to the Class as a whole. A large number of such books might provide a sociologist, say, with some valuable material. Here is only a small sample.

The number of men belonging to the Class of 1902 may be taken as originally 200, still a vague number because of freshman dropouts, and additions in later years. The occupations of the fathers were listed in that big book, so in a general way may be compared with those of the sons, though not individually.

OCCUPATION FATHERS SONS Clergyman 9 5 Farmer 37 2 Lawyer 13 13 Physician 6 18 Teacher 9 27

The largest number were those termed, in 1898, as business men, manufacturers, and merchants. Without any attempt to differentiate, there were 61 fathers and 70 sons in those categories. If you wish to draw conclusions, don't draw them very far.
