According to statistics compiled by the Office of Career Development, would-be attorneys would do well to major in government. Although it may all boil down to the ancient conundrum of the precedence of chicken or egg - only the legal eagle and his maker know whether the govy major turned him on to the law or was used as the likeliest path to admission to the hallowed halls of justice - it is a matter of record that 37 per cent of the 70 government majors in the Class of 1973 went on to law school.
Just over half went to graduate "school, in political science, international relations, public administration, business, and city planning, as well as the law. Another 25 per cent were immediately employed, 16 per cent of them in government or public service jobs. The one who perhaps strayed furthest is a member of the avalanche patrol at a California ski resort.
NOTE: this issue will be our last until the fall. The ALUMNI MAGAZINE is adopting a new schedule, replacing the July issue with one in September, but retaining ten times-a-year frequency. Class reunion reports will appear in September.
