The fall reunion weekend was an outstanding success. More than 20 classmates put in an appearance, and everyone seemed to have a good time eating, drinking and talking. After the bonfire Friday night (the second of two they had that week), we gathered in the faculty lounge in the Hopkins Center for a keg or two. Bill Yates managed to keep the beer flowing while Gordon Thomas kept running out buying additional supplies. The Executive Committee meeting Saturday morning was very fruitful. Many decisions were made and the reports on future events were very encouraging. Sam Kilner reported that the Class is solvent with a balance of about $2,500 in the treasury. Things picked up significantly when Quent Kopp joined the group. Unfortunately, he was about an hour late. Apparently he had difficulty leaving his luxurious accommodations at the Hanover Inn.

The game was disappointing for everyone but the Harvard contingent. Imagine not scoring with three downs and six inches to go for a touchdown. Our end zone seats were not too sharp, although they did provide an excellent view of the tragic ending. That night we had a very successful cocktail/dinner party at the Inn. Sharon Blank, the new dean of freshmen, gave an interesting talk about the success of our Class project, which is subsidizing 20 freshmen DOC trips during Freshman Week. She seems extremely nice and very capable. I am sure the freshman class will quickly grow to like her and will consider her one of the key people at the College.

John Waugh won the Gold Pick Ax award for his achievement in chemistry. We reported on John's achievements a number of months ago in this column. It was nice seeing him again and he certainly deserves the award that he was given. To the best of my knowledge, everyone went to bed early. The few who visited Fraternity Row were lucky to get out alive.

Our turnout included Bill Chapman, Bud Hughes, Paul Irwin, Bob Muenzberg, Sam Kilner, Brud Becker, Al Wagner, Carll Tracy, Charles Schuetz, Skip Linger, Val Haak, George Day, Tom Schwartz, Clarke Church, King Ball, Gordon Thomas, Bob Alden, Quent Kopp, John Waugh, and others.

I picked up a few scraps of news as I talked with people. Bob Alden reports he is developing a line of hats that are bound to be successful. Bob Muenzberg reports he is making progress with plans for our 30th reunion, which will be held in June, 1978. The big problem right now is thinking up a name.

Bill Chapman reviewed the Alumni Fund and, although he seems satisfied with the results, would like to see more people participate and more dough collected. George Day was in town on his way to New Haven to do some research at Yale on a book he is writing about Vardis Fisher. He is on leave from the University of Northern lowa, where he is an associate professor of English. George now lives in Salt Lake City and Ann is helping the state develop more public exposure concerning their collections of art. Ann didn't make the reunion, but George brought his daughter Georgianna, and son David, who is at Hampshire College. George should have received the award for coming the farthest and the slowest, for he came all the way from Salt Lake by bus. From the tales he tells, he should be able to write a book on that experience, also.

Clarke Church is busy traveling the world for Procter and Gamble. Quent is still very much involved in government and political affairs in San Francisco and he seems to be holding up very well.

Next year, the Class will gather for a fall reunion at the Cornell game. Everyone should put that date down on their calendars.
