Hope that all of you had enjoyable summer and that I will have a chance to get together with those who live in the Northeast at some of the football games this fall. Here's hoping for a successful season. A number of congratulations are in order this month. First and foremost thanks go to Ernie Babcock and those who assisted him in this past year's Alumni Fund drive. It was the most successful one to date for our Class. Thanks also go to all of you who supported the campaign so generously. I am sure that all of you involved in educational or charitable projects have already come to the realization that one can go only so far without money, regardless of how enthusiastic a group of supporters there are and regardless of how worthy the cause. So, thanks to all for their indispensable contributions to Dartmouth.

On an individual level, congratulations go out to John Langley and Catherine Thomas who announced their engagement this summer. A September wedding was planned. John owns and operates South Branch Canoe Cruises and is a freelance writer and editor. Catherine is a Middlebury College graduate. She has been a canoe guide and white-water instructor for the cruise company and is also a freelance graphic artist. Yes, there are interesting things to do in this world. Classmates interested in learning more about canoeing and the Langley's involvement in a camp and gear shop in Ringoes, N.J., can address their best wishes and inquiries via P.O. Box 173, Lebanon, N.J. 08833.

Our classmate Davis Young has received a very fine promotion. Davis is now an assistant vice president in the deposit operations and corporate services division of the First National Bank of Boston. He has been with the bank since 1971. Davis is married to the former Bashi Nails who also has been enjoying her career in education and is presently serving with the public school system in Newton, Mass. In addition to his activities at the bank, Davis has found time to serve as a director of Opportunities Industrialization Centers, Inc., and is a member of the Boston Urban Bankers Forum, Boston Youth Motivation, and our alumni organization in Greater Boston. The Youngs live in Newton

Those who know Phil Anderson will also want to congratulate him on his engagement to Linda Cassolino. Phil obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and is practicing law with the Westport, Conn, firm of Tate, Capasse & Johnson. Linda, a Boston University graduate in English, has also seen the light and went on to complete the course at the Paralegal Institute in New York City. Phil and Linda have planned an October wedding, so your good wishes will be in order by the time this column appears in print.

Our own Russell Pinkston, along with several other Dartmouth composers, has cut a record of electronic music employing the College's digital synthesizer. The album has been well received and should be of interest both to those who follow the electronic music scene and those who would like to find out more about what is currently going on in the field.

Mike Smith should be back in this country by now. After obtaining his M.D., Mike has been seeing a bit of the world. Most recently he was in the Philippines, serving in various medical civic action programs as a senior medical officer with elements from the Amphibious Squadron 7 participating. Classmates who want to learn more from Mike as to what he has been up to can now contact him in Tucson, Ariz., where he has begun his neurology residency.

Finally word has been received that MarkHamilton has joined the staff of the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Vt. Mark received his M.D. degree from the State University of New York, in Brooklyn, in 1974 and completed his internship and residency at S.U.N.Y. in Buffalo. Last year he was the chief medical resident at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Buffalo. Mark, his wife, and daughter are now living in Springfield. He is also now an associate of the American College of Physicians and a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.

One last word, now that fall is here and only those in the Southern Crescent can still claim that they are too busy enjoying the good weather to send their class secretary any news of their whereabouts and activities, I expect to be inundated with mail. Seriously, I am limited in the number of you I can contact on my own and there is also a limit as to what can be done with newspaper clippings.
