The Dartmouth Players, having won first place last month in the New England regional competition of the annual American College Theatre Festival, are still awaiting word as to whether they will take their production of Garcia Lorca's Blood Wedding to the national finals in April in Washington, D.C.
Blood Wedding, the Players' fall 1976 offering directed by Rod Alexander, was one of seven New England college productions chosen to compete at the University of New Hampshire. Although it won there, it remains a second alternate for the final ACTF competition. Only eight of 13 regional winners are invited to Washington.
Seven years ago, the Players took top national honors with Ghost Sonata, also directed by Alexander, presenting the production to critical acclaim at the Ford Theatre.
Two of the leading players in BloodWedding, Adrienne Alexander '76 and Jason Kuschner '78, were also invited to audition in the Irene Ryan Scholarship competition at the regional festival.
