The Weymouths found Florida unseasonably hot, in contrast to the winter we had left, and returned to New Hampshire on April 7, the day after the so-called blizzard. On March 29, Hazel Macomber drove us from Bonita Springs to beautiful Estero Woods Village for a delightful lunch. Busy as always, Hazel found time in April for Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and on Sanibel visited with Nate and Mildred Whiteside, both tanned and well.
With the planets all on the same side of the sun for the first time in 179 years, I hope you folks of 1920 looked up at them in the early spring. Or was it only Dick Goddard who was interested in planets? Gazing at Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Saturn at 5:15 on a Florida April morning was a comforable way to see them.
Elizabeth Robertson, now of Rockport, Mass., finds walking difficult "and is quite confined to her apartment." The Country Store, which she and Jim once owned in Centerville, on Cape Cod, is still thriving.
Harriet Miller Hight's daughter, Deedee, and two children from Germany, were in Worcester in early April. How I envy those two lovely bilingual children for their German!
Atjne Thompson writes of the death, on March 15, of Earl W., whom she married three years after the death of Earl J. in 1971. He was the last of our class's adopted members. Because the ALUMNI MAGAZINE does not use obituaries of honorary or adopted members, I shall include one in the July newsletter.
Len Morrissey '22 hopes that any '2O hefe for the Penn game, September 18, "will join '21 and '22 in the Wheelock Room at the Inn. The festive gathering will begin about 11:00 a.m., food will appear about noon, and there will be time for a leisurely stroll to Memorial Field."
Other home games: Colgate, Harvard, Yale, Columbia. For the first time since 1884, both Harvard and Yale will be here.
Bill and Laura Carter, visiting their family in Phoenix, Ariz., and Reston, Va. made their whereabouts known by beautiful picture postcards one of Oak Creek Canyon and the other of the Saarinen-designed terminal at Dulles Airport.
According to the latest scoop, on March 21, Ed and Ginny Bowen had lunch with Kay and Jack Brotherhood. "Expect to see the Mel Merritts this week and are expecting our two grandsons in April." In much too big a scoop for this column, Bing Whitaker reminisces on working in the grill for fifteen cents an hour, and later for Joe Myers's Campus Restaurant.
Now that summer is presumably at hand, as you read this, no doubt Sherm Adams is looking ahead to another great skiing season, and A 1 Frey to another "brutal" winter.
Adios, adieu, and " '2O Up."
