If it is as tough for you to get Ivy League scores as it is for us, you might want to consider what some enterprising alumni did in Cleveland. They got together with their counterparts from Cornell and brought in the Big Green-Big Red game live via satellite. The party was a huge success. I don't think that they can field an entire schedule, but there is definitely more to come.

Dick Giesser has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the Small Business Foundation of America. He will be responsible for directing the efforts of the foundation in fostering the continued prosperity of small business through research, education and increased public wareness. Dick formerly was with Bear, Stearns in Boston. He has been active with Massachusetts Governor Dukakis. He is chairman of the Business Advisory Council and is under secretary of economic affairs. Dick has had a broad career in private business which includes 15 years as president of a manufacturing company which supplies heels to the shoe industry and several years in the real estate field. He and Connie still live in Waban.

Al Echikson has been elected president of the medical staff of Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Al is a specialist in internal medicine and is a member of numerous organizations and professional societies related to it. He is also former chairman of the board of trustees of the Essex County chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Bob Henderson has joined Greylock Management, a Boston-based venture capital organization, as vice chairman. Bob formerly was chairman and chief executive officer of ITEK and guided its acquisition by Litton Industries. He also is chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and was recently named a director of the Barry Wright Corporation, which makes computer room equipment, shock control devices for airplanes, and variable speed controllers. And, as you know, Bob is a member of the College's board of trustees.

Rudy Haerle has been named a fellow and associate of the National Humanity Center for this academic year. He will have an opportunity to work on research and writing projects and will engage in interdisciplinary seminars, lectures, and conferences. Rudy is a professor of sociology-anthropology at Middlebury.

Dave Picker continues to make Hanover into Hollywood East. Last May, the world premiere of his Steve Martin film, The ManWith Two Brains, was held at Hopkins Center. The opening was a benefit for the Arthur and Lillie Mayer Fund which has deep roots at Dartmouth.

Tony Frank has given up the position of president but still continues as chairman and chief executive officer of First Nationwide Financial Corporation. Its principal subsidiary is First Nationwide Savings, which is the eighth-largest savings and loan association in the country. Last year the organization was acquired by National Steel in that company's move to diversify out of an ailing industry. First Nationwide plans to become a national player in offering financial services to the middle class. The services could include insurance, tax preparation, and small loans.

Tom and Karen Davidson were appointed visiting professors in marketing at UNH. Tom is recuperating from a hand injury which occurred while he was working on his house in Maine with a wood chisel. We will all be hearing from Tom. He will be seeking a response to an attitude survey which will be published in conjunction with our 30th reunion. It should contain some fairly worth while statistics. When you get it, please take the time to answer.

In preparation for the first-ever swim meet at reunion, Chuck Luker is in serious training. His latest is a triathlon consisting of a one-mile ocean swim, 25 miles of biking, and a six and a half mile run. The advantage of having the reunion in June is that we miss the opportunity to participate in a Put Blodgett 50 mile cross country ski race.

The reunion dates are Monday, June 11, to Thursday, June 14, 1984. That's seven months from now. As you know, it will be a joint affair with '54 and '55. Chairman BernieSudikoff says that Jack and Anne Newton are planning a full schedule of activities for children, so don't hesitate to bring them. Dick Fleming and Fred Carleton will handle the older crowd.

That's it for this month.

Charles Russell '51 and three classmates recently had a gathering that is enthusiasticallydescribed by Russell in the 1951 class notes column. The quartet of '51s, and their occupations, are, from left to right, David O'Neill, a real estate broker; Russell, a risk manager; Paul Meyer, amathematics professor; and Howard Read, a hospital management consultant.
