'53 OUT for a family affair! That was the week that was! The almost 1,000 classmates, wives, friends, and children who attended the 25th reunion, June 15-18, had an outstanding time. A super job by Fred England and his tremendous committee. And if other priorities prevented you from making it back, I can honestly say that we missed you. Full details of reunion will be published in the September issue.

As we go off into summer, however, we do have news from around the Class.

Dave Burner has opened his own law office in Chicago. He will continue to specialize in estate planning, probate, real estate, and taxes. He is still active in the Army Reserve, holding the rank of colonel in a transportation brigade.

Being stationed in Belgium with Controlled Data appears to be not bad duty for Denny andYvonne Speidel. They got to spend six great days on Kauai. Denny caught a 258-pound blue marlin. They also had a chance to meet with Don Bremner at the Honolulu Airport en route to San Francisco. Don is active with the Honolulu Improvement Association and occasionally sees Bay Yee.

Al and Patty Ives are moving to Scaramento, Calif. Al is taking a permanent assignment with Pacific Telephone.

A late news report from this past winter's skiing. Wally Ashnault came in second in the men's senior division IV in the Rochester Cup Slalom at Bristol Mountain, N.Y.

Fred Grieg's daughter Carol, a member of the Class of '79, was an entrant in the Boston Marathon. She placed 40th among the women to finish the 26-mile, 385-yard course in a time of 3:05:47.

Bob Simpson joined The West Company in April. Bob will work with Jim West in the international division until this fall when he will assume the total responsibility for the division as vice president and general manager. At that time, Jim will assume responsibility as senior vice president for new business development in the areas of acquisitions, new product licensing, and establishment of joint ventures domestically and internationally. Bob, Anne, and their four children will relocate from Brussels to Philadelphia this summer. Bob has been executive vice president for Pfizer.

To get sharply contradicting points of view on basic issues troubling Africa and the Middle East, a contingent of 32 top U.S. businessmen leaders, accompanied by 18 Time editors, correspondents, and executives, spent 16 days in April on an 8,000-mile trip that began in South Africa and ended in Egypt. The trip was sponsored by Time with the aim of helping the businessman become better informed about the problems that so deeply affect us all. Among the hosts of the traveling Americans were Premier Begin, President Sadat, and Prime Minister Smith. Phil Beekman was one of the lucky participants.

Well, that's it 'til September. Have a great summer!
